Smallville 7.15 Veritas
If you looked at this episode as a stand alone, it was decent enough. Lionel has gone about things the wrong way so no one listens to his warnings, even when he begs. The final scene was very touching, I even cried. However, in the big sceme of things and the track record of this show, it's horribly horrible.

I have a feeling they've totally missed the best opportunity for a well done Clana break up. The smart thing to do would have been to have Wrath be the last straw, or even Persona. They've also lost the opportunity to use the Lexana kiss as a way to bring Lana and Lex together again, which would have been wonderful for the plot. Lana wouldn't have to be totally evil and she could still help get Kara out of the mansion. I could see her being jealous enough to do it, and she and Lex could have a love/hate relationship that way. Knowing the writers, Lana will totally forget about Clark's secret when she's finally saved and/or Clark will break up with her because it's "too dangerous" to be with him. Really, that's kind of lame.

Another thing is that Clark didn't even try to fly. I would understand him being nervous...except that if it didn't work, he wouldn't get hurt from the fall. There's no reason he shouldn't have tried and there's no reason Kara couldn't have pushed him out, even if he would have fallen, and I think he would have. You see, I have a theory that Clark won't fly until he accepts his destiny and it's clear he hasn't and probably won't until the very end of the series. Even Lionel knows that, saying he's turned away for Jor-El. How Lionel knows this must have something to do with why he's been acting so crazy. I'm almost certain Lionel still has some kind of connection with Jor-El. He's always calling Clark "son" and seems to know everything. Zor-El even made the comment about him being just like his brother. Lionel will apparently die next week, so I hope they will clear up what kind of connection he has with Jor-El and why he's been doing all these crazy things. But as I said, with AlMiles and these writers, you expect more misses than hits.

I think I've covered everything. I just have to wonder if the actors are hating their jobs right now as most other people do.

ETA: Oh, yes, I do believe I did forget something: Lois and Jimmy. Seriously, if I forgot the Lois/Jimmy team-up, nothing more needs to be said about it.
